Water Treatment for Closed Heating and Cooling Systems (BG 50/2021), second edition, by Dr Pamela Simpson, published by BSRIA in 2021, defines suspended solids as: ‘Insoluble dispersed solids that can be separated from the water by filtration. The concentration of suspended solids is determined by passing a measured quantity of water through a pre-weighed filter and re-weighing the filter after drying.’
